  • Length

    35.3 km

  • Estimated time

    2,5h

Apelöga

Cycle through Ystad's cosy city center and take in interesting history or contemporary fiction before the journey continues north towards old mills and castles.

Fine sandy beaches, beautiful nature, cosy villages, dining experiences and an interesting history await around Ystad. Start from this location when you are planning your next bike holiday, because from here you can choose to bike on the Sydkustleden, both east towards Simrishamn and west towards Helsingborg, read more at www.sydostleden-sydkustleden.se/en

Ystad's first inhabitants were fishermen who settled here already at the beginning of the 12th century. Soak up the historic atmosphere and visit, for example, Sankta Maria church, Ystad Theatre and the Monastery in Ystad. Park your bike for a while to stroll the cobbled streets among half-timbered houses, hollyhocks and lush leafy gardens.

Today, Ystad has become known to many thanks to the fictional character Police Commissioner Kurt Wallander, from Henning Mankell's book series, which was filmed in Ystad. Here you can walk in Wallander's footsteps on your own and take part in recording locations at the Ystad Studio Visitor Center or choose a guided tour if you prefer.

Further north and just west of Sövestad, you pass Krageholmsmöllan, a fine old mill from the mid-1800s of the Dutch type, built in five floors and which today is run and maintained by a handful of enthusiasts.

Here out on the plain outside Ystad, a wild world looms through Ystad zoo, which is a major visitor destination in the area. Get up close to a variety of bird species, mammals, reptiles, small animals and step into the petting fence to get really close. Water parks, playgrounds and food services are also given features in the park.

A little further north, just south of Sjöbo, sits Snogeholm Castle. The castle is beautifully situated in the middle of Snogeholm's recreational area which spreads out between three lakes, providing an interesting and beautiful landscape which can be experienced both on foot, by bike or in a canoe - choose for yourself! You can cool off with a dip in Sövdesjön's swimming pool or make a detour to Äventyrscampen to get an adrenaline rush on the high-altitude track or to try out some of the 60 different activities on offer.

Along Sub trail 102 there are train stations in the following locations: Ystad, Höör, Kågeröd, Klippan, Förslöv and Båstad.
