A section which offers great cultural experiences in the form of art and history. Here it's close between the experiences!
In Knislinge there are visible traces of settlements from the Later Iron Age and for those interested, you can look for ancient remains such as petroglyphs, stone ships, burial mounds and sacrificial platforms. Today, the resort has services with restaurants, cafés and grocery stores. After having filled the food bag in Knislinge, the journey continues towards Wanås Castle, which through Wanås Konst invites you to exhibitions, shops, cafés and restaurants in the magnificent courtyards. For those who prefer to stay outdoors, there is also an inspiring sculpture park with the works of several world-renowned artists.
Wanås Castle is situated in the old border region between Sweden and Denmark. According to the myth, several snapphanar ended their days by being hanged from the branches of large oaks, such as from the Snapphaneeken, an ancient oak, which is located inside the sculpture park at Wanås. Crime and cruelty were prevalent during the Scanian War, among other things by Swedish soldiers being ordered to behead captured snapphanar putting their heads on stakes along the roads, as a deterrent example.
Nowadays, of course, there are no dangers lurking in the forest, and you can without any fear cycle along cosy dirt roads and enjoy the small-scale agricultural landscape. Eventually you will reach Gumlösa church, which is Sweden's oldest reliably dated brick building and was consecrated as early as 1192. But the history of the area goes back further than that, and between Gumlösa and Fjärlöv there are visible remains from one of Skåne's two known ancient castles from around AD 400-500 located on the crest of Hälleberga Backe. If you want to visit the church, you are welcome to make an appointment at the parish office.
Stop by Skånska Vilt, which offers a wide selection of local delicacies and other treats in its farm shop. Another must stop is Flädergården and Pelargonhuset, which, just as the name suggests, has specialized in elderberry products which are grown, processed and sold on the farm. You can stop here for a good cup of coffee or elderberry juice and try their speciality elderflower waffle with elderberry jam and cream.
Once in Vinslöv, you can bike past the Västergårda Homeland Museum and just a stone's throw from the trail is Vinslöv's campsite with an outdoor pool which invites you to take a refreshing dip. You also bike past Vinslöv's church from the middle of the 12th century with its well-preserved ceiling frescoes. A church that has been enlarged in several legs during the 18th and 20th centuries.
Vinslöv offers services with a train station, restaurants, cafés and a grocery store.
Along Sub trail 101 there are train stations in the following locations: Kristianstad, Kvidinge, Vinslöv, Hässleholm, Tyringe, Perstorp, Klippan, Åstorp and Ängelholm.
