This section offers cycling in the Scanian cultural landscape. Take the opportunity to stop by at a farm shop and enjoy the local produce being offered. Perhaps a sea bath in Skälderviken will entice you when you have reached all the way to Ängelholm?
Before you cycle out leaving Åstorp, pay a visit to the beautiful Perslund's homestead, a half-timbered farm built around it dating back to the 18th century. Next to the homestead stands a well-preserved mill, of the Dutch type. People have lived in this area for 2000 years back, which is evidenced by the burial grounds, where a number of finds have been made in the form of bone pieces, pottery shards, stone pavings and stone ships. It is likely that the ancient remains were more, but were most likely cleared by railway works and road constructions.
Also make a small detour to Björnekulla church, whose stately building can be seen far and wide, and if you stand on the church steps and gaze out, you have a breathtaking view of the plain. The church is an unusually successful example of the pointed arch style, which means that the lines strive upwards and the arches meet at the apex.
Cycle on through traditional Scanian cultural landscape and stop at a farm shop to have a coffee and enjoy local crafts and delicacies.
Ängelholm is the city which is close to both the forest and the sea and it has gained its special character largely thanks to river Rönne, which meanders its way through the city. A tip is to bike the 16 km long Lergök round which leads you through the settlement, via Kronoskogen and further along the sea and "the Swedish Riviera" which offers salty baths.
If you need to take a break from the saddle, a visit to the well-visited Railway Museum is recommended to take part in the railway's exciting history. Just on the edge of the center you will find Ängelholms Hembygdspark, which is a popular combination of adventure, animal and museum park, with both a waffle house and a high-altitude track.
The Bjäre Peninsula together with the Kulla Peninsula invites you to a number of activities, experiences and enjoyment. So, you can preferably linger in the area for several days. Continue on with your bike ride on the Kattegattle trail either north towards Gothenburg or south towards Helsingborg. Read more at Kattegattledens hemsida.
